AMORY - Nettleton coach Jack Clark smiled when sophomore receiver Odarius Lowe caught a 62 yard touchdown pass from Anthony Franklin in the second quarter of Friday's MHSAA Classic at Amory.

He was smiling even bigger at the end of his team's 19-15 win against the Panthers (0-1).

"It's a big win," said Clark. "It could've have went either way. "Their kids fought hard. Our kids fought hard. Somebody had to win it and I'm glad it was us."

The touchdown catch was the first of two for the sophomore. The second one was the difference, a 30 yarder from Franklin for a four-point lead with 3 minutes, 15 seconds to play.

The first tied the game at 6 after Amory took a first quarter lead on Josh Andress' 14 yard touchdown catch from sophomore Forest Williams.

Nettleton (1-0) went ahead on Corbin White's 5 yard second quarter run. White later left the game with an injury coaches hope to get evaluated next week.

"All those kids are sophomores," Clark said of his skill players, "a bunch of sophomores. They made plays. I told Odarius on the sideline, 'you've got to take us home.' He's one of those type of players. Down the road, I think he's going to be something special."

Franklin finished the game 11-of-16 for 185 yards and two touchdowns. For Amory, Williams threw for 85 yards and a score on a 13-for-22 night, his first as a varsity starter.

Very cool, thanks for that info. I was hoping he wasn't done. Very good players who plays as hard as anyone I've ever seen on every play.

Great picture of Stasch in Monroe Journal. He was injured during the Nettleton game, but will be back in three to four weeks. His season is not over!
