Aberdeen 49 Pontotoc 32
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 1 in the Daily Journal Small School poll, looked dynamite on offense...again. Sophomore back Jamerson Love ran for 149 yards on six rushes. Yep, six rushes, four touchdown. He scored the big blow on a 75-yard kick return after Pontotoc had cut the lead to 35-32.
Big Pontotoc back Xavian Evans (6-foot-3) had 216 yards on 22 rushes for the Warriors.
Hamilton 27 South Pontotoc 18
Big win for the Lions, who needed it with Aberdeen visiting next week.
Smithville 39 East Oktibbeha 12
The 'Noles ran an ran some more. Antwune Freeman had 16 carries for 144 yards and two scores. Jore'el Freeman had 15 carries for 11 and two touchdowns all in the first half and Datrune Freeman had a couple scores. The first major test for what has proved to be a very good offense come next week at East Webster.
North Pontotoc 56 Hatley 14
Hatley, well noted, is struggling for positives. Young, small and badly in need of a win.
Amory 23 New Hope 20
The Panthers avenged last year's road loss and got a much needed win with Tupelo headed here next week. Evan Lackey was the star. The senior returned a kick 70 yards after a snapping miscue led to a safety for New Hope.
Booneville 42 Nettleton 6
Nettleton failed its first major test and Booneville is officially confusing. Slaughtered by Baldwyn and thrash Nettleton on the road. Who knows?
What do you guys think?
