AMORY - Election qualifying continues for area municipal elections.
In the city of Amory, only one new candidate entered the race for office during the third week of the qualification period last week.
Diane F. Hunt has filed papers seeking the office of Ward IV alderman, running on the Democratic ticket. She will face Barry Woods, Sr. and William "Bill" Lyle who had already qualified to seek this post which is currently held by Peggie Wilkerson.
The deadline to qualify to seek election is March 6. The primary is set for May 5, with the general election on June 2. Anyone interested in running for office may get qualifying papers at the city clerk's office at City Hall.
